Biography

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Goodwin was a largely self-taught artist who did not begin her professional career until her late 40s. She first gained national attention in the early 1970s with her Vest series, created through a unique soft-ground etching process. Over the next four decades, her practice expanded into large-scale drawings, sculpture, and complex installations. She became a pivotal figure in the Montreal art scene and is considered one of Canada’s most significant artists of the 20th century.
