Biography

Born in Naples, Italy, in 1953, Longobardi is a largely self-taught artist who emerged during a period of intense cultural upheaval. He was a protégé of the legendary gallery owner Lucio Amelio and became a central figure in the Terrae Motus collection, created in response to the devastating 1980 Irpinia earthquake. This event profoundly impacted his artistic trajectory, leading to a lifelong preoccupation with themes of ruin and resilience. He continues to live and work in the heart of Naples, where the city’s layers of history serve as his primary studio.
