Andy Fabo
Biography
Born in Calgary, Alberta, in 1953, Fabo moved to Toronto in the 1970s and became a central figure in the Queen Street West art scene. He was a co-founder of the influential artist-run centre Chromazone and was a key participant in the Neo-Expressionist movement in Canada. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, his work became deeply intertwined with AIDS activism, creating some of the most poignant visual responses to the crisis in the country. He has taught at several institutions, including the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD).
