Biography

Born in Mexico City in 1957, Garduño initially studied visual arts at the Antigua Academia de San Carlos. Her career path was defined by her time as a darkroom assistant to the legendary master Manuel Álvarez Bravo, where she perfected her printing technique. In the early 1980s, she traveled through remote rural areas of Mexico to document indigenous life for the Ministry of Public Education, a journey that birthed her distinctive narrative style. She currently divides her time between Mexico and Switzerland.
